The cable in that pic is identical to mine. What you've said about the PSU puts my mind at ease - I didn't realise the plugs were a little different, and worried that maybe I'd put too much voltage through or something! I did check the PSU was compatible with the board beforehand, but had doubts when I saw the cable. Massive thanks to anyone who can help me fix this problem! Sorry for all the questions, I'm just desperate at this stage. I guess other than that the mobo or CPU could be faulty? Any way to diagnose which? Or is there another potential problem? So should I only use those 4? Or plug in the other 4 too? They do connect, but not sure if that's the correct procedure? Is this PSU actually compatible with this motherboard? I wondered if the PSU might be the issue, but the mobo seems to be drawing power okay? Also, the CPU power cable confuses me - it has 2 4-pin plugs, and while the connector on the mobo does have 8 holes only 4 of them match the shape of the holes on the cable plug (the right-most 4, looking at the mobo when it's upright). Also, I noticed that I can pick up power going into the PSU (from the surge protector into the unit itself) but when I try to test any cable going from the PSU to a component the little LED on my tester doesn't illuminate. I do still have the original Intel cooler, but no thermal paste and also no way to remove thermal paste, so I wasn't sure if I should change coolers.

Most of these fixes were found online, but although they have helped others in some cases nothing so far has worked. Moved the one stick of RAM into every slotįlashed the latest BIOS from the Asus website via USB and the BIOS flashback feature However, now I've got the mobo on a cardboard box, with only the PSU, H100i, 1 stick of RAM and the CPU hooked up. When I did have the graphics card installed (prior to trying to get the mobo running outside of the case) I had a green LED on that as well as 5 white ones. When I press the Start button, the Q-Code reads 00 and the CPU_LED is lit red. Once the PSU is on, the Start and Reset buttons light up. I've omitted the drives and graphics cards because I don't have them in the system now and I still have the same error. I'm hoping someone with much more experience (and probably common sense) can help.
